Supporting My Kiddos {Autism Awareness}

As a teacher, I'm surrounded by all types of children.  Some are quiet while others
are very outspoken.  Some are athletic while others are more artistic.  My kids range
from every ethnicity and every socioeconomic background.  They each have their
own story, and I love each and every one of them for their own unique gifts.

This year was the first year I've taught ASD {Autism Spectrum Disorder} students.
My three ASD kiddos all have very unique needs and have very different personalities.

They have taught me so much.  My support staff and I work and learn with the kiddos
each day.  It's hard to put it into words, but I have so much love and compassion for them.

I bought this bracelet from Morning Treasures on Etsy.  It's a small gesture to show
my love and support for my ASD kiddos.  Even though the school year is almost over,
I'm absolutely thrilled that they will be in a 2nd grade classroom right down the
hall from me next year.  I'm excited to see them continue to grow and learn!

Truffula Tree Fun

My school has a mini Relay for Life event each year.
Our team chose the theme of Dr. Seuss.  Each class chose a
book/character.  It didn't take longer for the ball to get rolling!

We created these mustaches:

We also created our own Truffula trees:

What a fun and memorable day to celebrate those who have fought against cancer!

Do you participate in your local Relay for Life?

Field Trip Fun

It's Saturday and that means it's time for my weekly pic!

My team and I took all of our 1st grade kiddos to the Gwinnett Environmental
and Heritage Center.  What an awesome trip for kids and adults alike!

I wish I could show all of the pics of the kids digging into the water cycle, space
exploration, recycling, and the evolution of water over the last 100 years.

Here's one of the pics that I can show you:

I don't what it is about old barns and buildings.
It's like they're calling my name.

Tractor Seat Chair Comfort {Project 365 - Day 13}

Yesterday I shared a pic of my grandmother's rocking chair.
Today's pic is of my favorite chair in my classroom:

I got this tractor seat chair from Target a few years ago.
It's my favorite and it goes along perfectly with my theme.
It even raises up and down - I know, right?!

Project 365 {2015} - Day 5 School Birthday Goodies

When I'm not taking pics, I'm in the classroom with my 24 first graders.  I'm in my 10th
year of teaching and I've finally found a student birthday gift that I absolutely LOVE!

Hence the reason for my Day 5 pic:

Today was my first day back after a two week winter break.  It was a teacher work day
and I actually got a TON of work done.  I even had time to put out these students
birthday gifts!  These kiddos had birthdays over the break (or within the next
couple days) and I wanted them to find a nice surprise on their desk!
